Biofloc Technology (BFT) is a sustainable, cost-effective aquaculture method that uses beneficial bacteria, algae, and protozoa to convert fish/shrimp waste (ammonia) into nutritious, edible protein flocs (biofloc).

Biofloc Technology (BFT) is a sustainable, high-density aquaculture method that utilizes beneficial bacteria to convert fish waste into protein-rich, edible feed. By maintaining a high carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, these microbes form “flocs” that improve water quality, eliminate the need for frequent water exchanges, and reduce feed costs.

Bio-floc Principles

It uses heterotrophic bacteria to convert toxic ammonia (fish waste) into nitrogenous compounds that are reused as food by fish.
